Agriculture plays a major role in India’s economy and employs
a large portion of the population. Among various crops, rice is
the most widely grown and consumed. However, with a
growing population and the need for development, it is
important to reduce manual labour in farming and shift the
workforce to other sectors. Mechanization in paddy farming
can help achieve this by increasing productivity and reducing
dependency on manual labour. The aim of this project is to
design a paddy transplanting mechanism that helps small
scale farmers plant rice seedlings more efficiently. The
proposed machine, named Farmer’s Friend, is developed to
solve the challenges faced during manual paddy planting. It
ensures proper spacing between plants, which improves crop
growth and overall yield.
Powered by a 300cc engine and capable of planting 8 rows at
a time, this machine is significantly more efficient than
traditional manual planting methods, helping farmers save
time, effort, and labour costs while increasing productivity.
